Limerick duo announce retirement from inter-county football

Limerick manager Billy Lee has paid tribute Johnny McCarthy and Seanie Buckley, who have both announced their retirement from inter-county football.

The Treaty County stalwarts clocked up over 80 Championship appearances between them.

Buckley captained Limerick to league titles in 2010 and 2013, while McCarthy was an All-Star nominee in 2009.

Speaking to the Limerick Leader, Lee said: "Johnny and Seanie are two of the great players - up there with anything that has played for Limerick."

"Both have given serious service to Limerick and would be an asset to any set-up."
