Dubs book Walsh Cup final berth

Dublin advanced to the Bord na Mona Walsh Cup final, but only just, following a 2-19 to 1-21 win over Galway at Parnell Park this afternoon.

Paul Ryan fired 1-7 including the match winning score late on as Anthony Daly's charges advanced to a decider against Kilkenny or Wexford next weekend.

Galway starting this match without Joe Canning, after the Portumna clubman picked up a minor knock in the quarter-final win over Carlow last weekend.

Ryan's goal arrived early in this match, ensuring a 1-4 to 0-2 lead for the hosts after just six minutes.

Galway responded with a three-pointer from Jonathan Glynn to cut the deficit to two points in the 10th minute, but Dublin bounced back.

A trio of points placed Dublin 1-7 to 1-2 ahead by the 15th minute, but Galway registered six unanswered points between the 15th and 30th minutes to take the lead for the first time.

Galway were reduced to 14 men in the 18th minute after Andy Smith was given a straight red card following an off the ball incident.

Ryan brought his tally to 1-2 with a 30th minute point, but Galway were strongest before the break with Niall Healy accurate from placed balls while Tadhg Haran was also on target as the visitors held a 1-11 to 1-9 interval lead.

Danny Sutcliffe fired Dublin's second goal nine minutes after the restart, in a tight second half.

Niall Healy (0-10) impressed with four unanswered points and a further score from Aidan Harte pushing the Tribesmen ahead.

However, Dublin pressed hard with late scores from Shane Durkin and Ryan to ensure a one-point win.
