Three second half goals by Dublin was enough to put Mayo to the sword in this gripping All-Ireland semi-final replay, which was level on eight occasions.

In front of an 81,897 crowd, Mayo led by four points, 1-12 to 0-11, up to the 54th minute when Dublin hit them for 2-2 in the space of four minutes.

With Mayo playing too deep, James McCarthy got the ball rolling before Bernard Brogan bagged their first goal, deflecting a Brian Fenton shot past Rob Hennelly, to square the game.

The second goal came quickly after it, Mayo punished for another poor kick-out when Brogan managed to scoop a pass into the penalty area when the advancing Philly McMahon beat Hennelly in beating the ball to the net.

Paddy Andrews added his fifth of the day and the game had transformed completely.

After another McMahon score, substitute Kevin McManamon killed off the game with a marvellous strike having been put into space by Fenton.

The sides were level on seven occasions in the first half, which ended with them 10 points apiece.

Andrews' razar sharp accuracy was one of the major talking points but Dublin weren't helping their cause with some indiscipline in their backs and the ball being brought forward twice for dissent adding to the three that Joe McQuillan advanced last week.

Diarmuid Connolly and Lee Keegan duelled again but neither offered a handshake at the outset.

But there was little evidence of the negativity that beset the drawn game as each team indulged in some free-flowing, less cynical football.

Neither side enjoyed more than a two-point lead, Mayo going 0-5 to 0-3 ahead in the 17th minute via a Cillian O'Connor free.

They reinstated that advantage in the 20th minute through O'Connor's younger brother Diarmuid, who was again effective, and once more in the 23rd minute when the older O'Connor converted another free.

Dublin snuck ahead in the 32nd minute when Fenton curled one over although Seamus O'Shea looked to have been fouled prior to a line ball in the lead-up.

Keegan equalised and then O'Connor added another free, the second in the half for a foul on Aidan O'Shea, after Ciaran Kilkenny had slotted over his second point of the day.
