'X Factor' has suffered since Cheryl left, says Walsh

Kimberley Walsh thinks ‘The X Factor’ hasn’t been the same since Cheryl Cole left.

The Girls Aloud star believes the lack of chemistry on the ITV1 show’s current judging panel is to blame for struggling ratings and claims the singing competition was at its peak before her band mate quit in 2010.

She said: “I think it misses Cheryl. She was brilliant on it and I think she’s missed. She and Simon were very amusing to watch. It was a good chemistry and I think that is missed.

“The whole line-up of judges has changed over the years and the time Cheryl was involved was a great time for the show. There were some great winners and it was all about the talent.”

The ‘Something New’ singer has donned her dancing shoes to take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ - which beat the ‘X Factor’ in the ratings war last weekend with two million more viewers - and thinks the BBC One show has become a family favourite because its concept is far more “happy” and heart-warming than its rival show’s.

Kimberley told The Sun newspaper: “I am obviously going to say ‘Strictly’ is better than ‘X Factor’ this year. The thing about ‘Strictly’ is it is so happy. It’s a warm show and people have embraced it. People want escapism, they want to be happy, and ‘The X Factor’ is a lot more serious. It is people’s lives at stake and it does really matter if people go.”

The star has been putting in 14-hour training days with her dance partner Pasha Kovalev after facing the dreaded bottom two last weekend. The pair performed a fiery tango last night (24.11.12) in the hopes of winning back public support.
