Toy Story 4 will be a romantic comedy
Pixar studio president Jim Morris has revealed that the sequel to the animated children's film will be separate from the films that have come before it and will be a "love story".
"The third movie ended in a beautiful way and completed a trilogy. This movie will be a separate story," he said to Disney Latino.
"It is not a continuation of the end of the story of Toy Story 3.
"It will be a love story, a romantic comedy. It will focus more on the interaction between the characters and children. I think it will be a very good movie."
Director John Lasseter also added that a fourth movie was not originally considered, particularly after Toy Story 3 “ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly”.
But when the “exciting” new idea came up, he “could not stop thinking about it” and “knew [he] had to make it”.
“We love these character so much; they are like family to us,” he said in a statement last year.
“We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before.“

He also insisted they were not making a fourth instalment of the series for the money but because they came up with an "irresistible" idea.
Rashida Jones and Will McCormack are writing the script, whilst the idea was created by John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter and Lee Unkrich.
John will be directing the film, which is expected to be released in June 2017.
It's currently in its third table reading stage and the script is "evolving very well".
