A play by Irish author Colm Tóibín, based on his 2011 novella about Jesus’ mother after the crucifixion, is set to debut on Broadway this Spring.

A play by Irish author Colm Tóibín, based on his 2011 novella about Jesus’ mother after the crucifixion, is set to debut on Broadway this Spring.

Producers said Fiona Shaw will star in The 'Testament of Mary', which has previews beginning March 26 at the Walter Kerr Theatre. It opens on April 22.

Scott Rudin will produce the show. Shaw was last on Broadway in Medea in 2002.

Tóibín is best known for 'A Long Winter' and his short story collection 'Mothers and Sons'.
