'Strictly' judge claims he could save money for 'X Factor'

Craig Revel Horwood could "save 'The X Factor' for £5m".

The 'Strictly Come Dancing' judge has boldly claimed he could turn around the fortunes of Simon Cowell's pop star search show - which has had lower-than-average viewing figures this year - for the right price.

Craig told BANG Showbiz: "I would hand out advice willingly. I could save his show for £5 million, as I've said."

Craig, 47, didn't elaborate on how he would save the ITV series, but is ready for Simon, 53, to pick up the phone and ask him for his help.

He added: "I can't tell you that. That's a big secret. I know what's wrong with it. I know what the solution is. It's only a phone call away, isn't it?"

Craig's biggest problem with the ITV show is that he believes the critiques given by the judging panel - Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Tulisa and Nicole Scherzinger - are scripted as opposed to the spontaneous comments made by him and his fellow 'Strictly' judges.

He said: "'The X Factor' is, I suppose, a little bit transparent now and I think that is its biggest problem, its biggest issue. There aren't any surprises. You could write the script yourself and see it on television that evening.

"'Strictly' is not [scripted]. It's not. I didn't script an argument. I didn't know I was going to give Louis [Smith] a six. I never know what the other judges are going to say, and I never know how they're going to vote. That's what I love about it and I think that's what the audience love about it."
