Mother's 'explosive' memoir details Lohan's drink and drugs use
Lindsay Lohan's mother has opened up about the actress' drinking and drug taking in an explosive new memoir.
Dina Lohan has penned the as-yet-untitled book with the help of a ghost writer and has included information on Lindsay's fall from grace – including five arrests by the age of 25 and numerous rehab stays – in a bid to make it a "best seller".
According to a draft of the prologue obtained by TMZ.com, Dina wrote: "I blamed her friends, her career and her handlers for an (sic) newfound lifestyle of partying excessively. Drinking, drugging and behaving irresponsibly became Lindsay's way of daily living-and it tore me up inside."
Dina also appears to admit she was wrong to send Lindsay to Hollywood alone as a young teenager in 2004 with only a chaperone for company while she stayed in New York to raise her other children Ali, 17, Cody, 14, and 23-year-old Michael Jr.
She writes: "How could I deny my daughter the chance of a lifetime? How could I hold Lindsay back from her dream of becoming an actress? So, I listened to others and sent my daughter to Hollywood with a few pieces of luggage and a chaperone."
Dina also reportedly speaks about the difficulties of juggling her roles as Lindsay's mother and manager.
Earlier this week, Lindsay was escorted from a Los Angeles courtroom in handcuffs after her probation was revoked but she was later released on $100,000 bail.
She will face trial on November 2 which will decide whether she violated her probation, by skipping some of her community service duties - which were issued as part of her sentence for stealing a $2,500 necklace in January - and if found guilty could face up to 18 months in jail.
