Michelle Keegan doesn't want to rule out a 'Coronation Street' return.
Yesterday it was reported the actress - who plays Tina McIntyre - was quitting the show after six years, which was later confirmed in an official statement.
Although wanting to focus on theatre work and films, it's now said the star doesn't want her character killed off in case she decides to come back
According to the Sunday Mirror newspaper, she told a friend: "I'd love them to leave the role open for me. It's time to move on but I love the character and definitely wouldn't rule out coming back."
Despite shocking show bosses with the sudden announcement she wanted to quit with her contract expiring in November, Michelle has been convinced to stay until May 2014 to round off her time on the show with a dramatic storyline.
In a statement, she said: "I have had the most amazing 6 years at 'Coronation Street' and it was such a difficult decision to leave. But I felt it was the right time for me to make the next step in my career.
"I will miss Tina and will always be grateful to ITV and 'Coronation Street' for giving me such an amazing role to play for my first ever acting job.
"Most of all I will miss the amazing people who work on the show, my acting colleagues, cast, crew, producers and writing team. I have met people who I know will be friends for life."
