Joan Rivers has been rushed to hospital

Joan Rivers, 81 was reportedly undergoing an operation on her throat when she stopped breathing.

According to TMZ, Joan was having the surgery at a clinic and the procedure was on her vocal cords. The site reports she stopped breathing, which is when she was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

It's been a busy week for Rivers as she was on double Fashion Police duty with the VMAs and Emmys airing back to back.

At the moment no further information is available and the specifics of Joan's operation have not been released although we know her daughter Melissa is on the way to be by her mother's side.
