The long-awaited sequel to Jurassic Park has just released its first trailer.
The film, set for release in July, envisions a version of the ill-fated park in which the dinosaurs are fully under control - until the park's geneticists experiment with new procedures.
Starring Chris Pratt (
) and Bryce Dallas Howard ( , ), the film is directed by Colin Trevorrow, with the series' original director, Steven Spielberg, on board as an executive producer. The original 1993 hit, starring Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum, raked in an estimated US $400 million at the box office from a $63m budget, making it an enormous success. Its sequels also performed well, though not to the same extent - The Lost World made over $200m and Jurassic Park III took in $181m.
It's believed characters form the original trilogy will not make an appearance in the new story, as the director believed the only reason for them to return to the island would be if the writers invented contrived reasons for them to arrive.
