Actor Brian Blessed bit through woman’s umbilical cord to deliver baby in park

Actor Brian Blessed has revealed today that he delivered a woman’s baby under a tree in a London park.

Brian made the claim during an interview on BBC Radio 4 this morning.

The incident happened in Richmond Park, London, while he was filming Z Cars in 1963 - and it doesn’t end there.

He then went on to say that after he delivered the baby successfully, he bit the umbilical cord loose with his teeth and licked the baby’s face clean before calling an ambulance.

"I told her to breathe deeply and I delivered the baby. I got the afterbirth out, then I bit it loose and tied it into a knot and then I called for help,” he told host Libby Purves.

"My shirt was covered in blood. I was saying 'it's alright darling' and I was licking the baby's face."

The actor went on to claim that he knew what to do because as growing up he had seen his mother deliver children.

"I had been brought up with babies," he said.

The story then led to Brian trending on Twitter, as fans worried that the 78-year-old actor passed away but no.

Blessed is best known for his roles in Black Adder and voicing famous characters such as Grampa Rabbit in Peppa Pig, Boss Nass in Lego Star Wars and Prince Vultan in Family Guy.
