A Pakistani airliner bound for Manchester made an emergency landing at Moscow’s main international airport after one of its engines failed.

No one was injured and the plane later took off safely.

The Airbus A-310 carrying 220 people was en route yesterday from Karachi, with a stop scheduled at Moscow’s Sheremetevo-2 airport. The crew reported an engine failure to the control tower and rescue crews were sent to the runway.

The pilots safely landed the plane and the passengers were evacuated. Mechanics examined the plane for six hours and discovered an oil problem, said an airport official.

The problem was fixed and the plane took off last night.
