Two people have been killed and 19 others injured when a bomb exploded at a bus stop during the morning rush hour in the Tel Aviv suburb of Kfar Saba.

Police suspect one of the dead was a Palestinian suicide bomber who detonated the bomb in a crowd of people waiting for a bus.

Rescue services spokesman Yeruham Mandola says the victims included a seriously injured child. Israeli army radio reported that the explosion went off at around 9am (0700 GMT) during morning rush hour traffic at a busy junction.

Two bombs which police believe were set off by Palestinian militants exploded in Kfar Saba last week, but no one was killed.

Israel has been rocked by repeated explosions carried out by Palestinian militants since the Palestinian uprising began seven months ago.

Following today's explosion, police immediately sealed off the area to search with sniffer dogs for any additional explosives.
