Brown backing England

Former Scotland manager Craig Brown admits he will be supporting England in the World Cup.

Former Scotland manager Craig Brown admits he will be supporting England in the World Cup.

Brown, who failed in his bid to take the Scots to Japan and South Korea is now boss at Preston and insists he wants to see the English do well.

But he claims he has always supported the Auld Enemy and insists Scots who say they don’t back England are joking.

He said: ‘‘How can you be against England? It will be good for football here if England do well in the World Cup finals.

‘‘I’m now in English football and I’ll be supporting the English team.

‘‘But I have always done that. They say in Scotland you can’t support England but that’s jocular, they pretend.’’
