The Broadway production of Cole Porter's Kiss Me, Kate has been named Best Musical at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in London.
It beat off competition from My Fair Lady and Merrily We Roll Along.
The production is currently enjoying a revival at the Victoria Palace Theatre.
The award was presented by Andrew Lloyd Webber at a star-studded ceremony at London's Savoy Hotel.
In the audience were some of the nation's leading actors, playwrights and directors, including Trevor Nunn, Lindsay Duncan, Sam Mendes and Jerry Hall.
Greek tragedy Medea carried off two awards, with Irish-born Fiona Shaw named Best Actress and Deborah Warner claiming the Best Director prize. It is the second time the pair have won the Evening Standard awards for Best Actress and Best Director.
Best Play went to Robert Lepage's The Far Side Of The Moon which tells the story of two brothers and the Space Race.
The Best Actor accolade went to Alex Jennings for his performances in The Winter's Tale and The Relapse.
Alistair Beaton's tale about an unprincipled spin doctor, Feelgood, won the hard-fought Best Comedy category ahead of Caught In The Net and Lifex3.
This year saw the second Charles Wintour Award for most Promising Playwright which went to Roy Williams for his humorous play about sexual politics, Clubland.
