Matthew Perry of Friend’s fame and real-life tennis fan really wanted a role in the upcoming film ‘Wimbledon’.

He flew from London to Hollywood to discuss starring in the film only to be told by producers they wanted someone with a Brit accent.

Perry was furious, according to the National Enquirer, and barked: “I came all this way – and you couldn’t tell me over the phone?”

But the truth is the producers felt after meeting Perry he was too out-of-shape to play a world class tennis player and gave the role instead to whippet-thin Paul Bettany instead.
