This year's Martell Grand National will feature a modern-day record of 144 entries.
That compares with 133 last year and beats the previous best of 141 dating back to 1984.
Last year's winner Red Marauder is entered again as is 2000 hero Papillon.
The 2001 runner-up Smarty and third-placed Blowing Wind could all do battle again in the race at Aintree on April 6.
Many of Europe's top chasers are engaged, including Cheltenham Gold Cup contenders like King George VI Chase winner Florida Pearl and First Gold, winner of last year's Martell Cup at Aintree.
Papillon, Florida Pearl, Alexander Banquet and Rince Ri are among 26 Irish-trained entries, with others being Irish National winner Davids Lad of the Tony martin stable, and Arthur Moore's Lyreen Wonder.
Rowland Meyrick Chase winner Behrajan, Marlborough, What's Up Boys, Alexander Banquet and Rince Ri are included, while Beau adds further interest.
There are six from France, including First Gold and two from trainer Jacques Ortet - Empereur River and Hunter Jack.
Josef Vana from the Czech Republic has made two entries - Decent Fellow and Sankt Moritz.
Champion trainer Martin Pipe has 16 entrants, among them Blowing Wind, Take Control, You're Agoodun, Carryonharry and Nocksky.
Trainer Ginger McCain has entered Amberleigh House and Gunner Welburn, winner of last year's Martell Foxhunters' Chase.
The card will also feature Mely Moss, runner-up in 2000 - as well as Supreme Glory, Ad Hoc, 2000 Scottish National winner Paris Pike and The Last Fling.
Red Marauder's trainer Norman Mason has four other entries - Red Striker, Red Ark, Emperor's Magic and Nosam.
Aintree managing director Charles Barnett said: "This is another tremendous entry combining top quality with quantity - the perfect National formula.
"We have our biggest-ever overseas entry with yet again amazing support from Ireland. I'm also delighted with the number of French entries and in particular the prestige of J P McManus's First Gold from the Doumen yard."
