Sharon Osbourne has been signed up to host a syndicated US talk show.

The wife of British rock star Ozzy Osbourne has reached a deal with Telepictures Productions for the show which begins next autumn, according to various reports.

A spokesman for Telepictures said the company doesn’t comment on projects in development.

Details are still being finalised but it is expected that Osbourne will oversee a single-issue talk show with a studio audience, a format similar to The Oprah Winfrey Show.

In an interview with veteran American presenter Barbara Walters last week, Osbourne, 50, said she wouldn’t invite MTV’s cameras into her home for the popular reality series The Osbournes if she had it to do over again.

Although she told Walters she wanted to call it quits after the upcoming 10-episode second season, she later issued a statement saying she would fulfil the contract with MTV that calls for 20 episodes in total.

The series, which has been the biggest hit in the cable music channel’s history, returns to US television screens later this month.

Osbourne, who is fighting colon cancer, also told Walter’s show the reality series has changed her family “so much”, adding that her teenage children now have lawyers and business managers.
