Nicky Richards has put forward the Pendil Novices’ Chase at Sandown at the end of the month as a possible port of call for Monet’s Garden en route to the Cheltenham Festival.
The Greystoke trainer is anxious to get more experience into his grey, who was impressive in victory when returning from a break at Carlisle earlier in the week.
Richards said: “Monet’s had a little canter this morning and will run before Cheltenham, all being well.
“It could be back at Carlisle or to Sandown, but he would need to have his ground.”
Monet’s Garden is currently one of the leading candidates for the Royal & SunAlliance Chase at the Festival.
The trainer had news on Jazz d’Estruval, who sustained a minor setback after winning at Haydock.
He added: “I think we can forget the rest of the domestic season but I’ll try to get him ready for a race over hurdles at Auteuil in the summer. They love to water in France and he should get his conditions there.”
