Drogheda were left rue the better chances as champions Cork held out for a fifth draw on the spin as their title was all but surrendered.

A terrific first half brought plenty of lively football with Drogheda wasting the best chance as early as the seventh minute.

Paul Keegan played in Eamon Zayed whose shot was parried by keeper Michael Devine with Gavin Whelan’s follow up being cleared off the line by skipper Dan Murray.

Danny Murphy then appeared to take down Drogheda skipper Declan O’Brien but no penalty was forthcoming from referee Ian Stokes.

And it still wouldn’t go right for Drogheda into the second half with Paul keegan hitting the bar.
