Robert Winston has fractured his jaw following an horrific fall at Haydock Park.

Winston was unshipped from his mount Jade Warrior when his reins broke as the field for the Park House Farm Maiden Stakes at Haydock raced into the home bend.

He was thrown heavily to the ground and then appeared to be kicked by a following horse.

"He's got a broken jaw and he's being operated on today at Fazackerly Hospital in Liverpool," said his agent Richard Hale.

"They are going to screw his jaw up. He's got 16 stitches in his lips and they're going to do something with his teeth because they've been bashed in.

"He's had a bad do."
