Eamon Darcy has withdrawn from the AIB Irish Seniors Open at Adare Manor starting on Thursday.
A late invitation to take part in the Bayer Advantage Invitational Tournament means the Wicklowman misses the Irish Open, much to the annoyance of the organisers.
Darcy’s defection now means that two of the three personalities involved in the publicity campaign to promote the event (Des Smyth is the other) are now missing the event.
Christy O’Connor Junior is troubled with a shoulder injury at the moment but is likely to take part in the event which has a prize fund of €330,000.
