Dundalk 2 Drogheda United 2
Dundalk scored twice inside as many minutes late on as they came from 2-0 down to salvage a point in a cracking 150th Louth derby at Oriel Park tonight.
Drogheda started the better, dominated the first half and were full value for their 1-0 interval lead.
That came on 20 minutes when the home side managed to only partially clear a free kick into their area.
Former Dundalk midfielder David Cassidy returned the ball into the box where Graham Rusk, looking offside, shot home from close range.
Drogheda doubled their lead on 71 minutes when midfielder Ryan Brennan headed home a cross from Cassidy.
Five minutes later Dundalk were given a lifeline when Keith Ward curled the ball home from a free-kick.
Within two minutes the comeback was complete.
Dundalk central defender Byrne, lucky to be on the pitch following a bad tackle on Tiarnan Mulvenna in the first half, was sent off for pulling down the same striker inside the area.
Midfielder John Dillon scored from the resultant penalty.
