Leeds have admitted they broke Football League rules by fielding six loan players in last month’s game at Burnley.
Graham Stack, Matt Heath, Ugo Ehiogu, Tresor Kandol and Geoff Horsfield all played as Leeds slipped to a 2-1 defeat, while Tony Warner was an unused substitute.
League rules state the maximum number of loan players a team can name in their match-day squad of 16 is five.
A statement on the club’s website, leedsunited.com, read: “We can confirm that the club broke Football League regulations at Burnley.
“We will co-operate fully with the Football League on this matter and explain the extenuating circumstances.”
