Graham Taylor was delighted to see an end to Aston Villa's struggles away from home after their 5-2 success at Middlesbrough.

Villa raced into a 2-0 lead, only for Boro to level before Taylor's side went on to win with surprising ease.

Taylor said: "It's the end of an embarrassing record, and at least it was not a 1-0 win. It was our first away win in the Premiership this season as everyone will know, and we are very, very pleased about it.

"I couldn't believe it that we were 2-0 up and just threw it away, as defensively we have been excellent all season, but great credit to the players for overcoming that.

"We got a little bit of good fortune for our third goal when Thomas Hitzlsperger volleyed it, the shot was going wide and Gareth Barry collected it and scored."
