Mick McCarthy is on a spying mission in Abu Dhabi to find out who the Republic of Ireland will meet in their World Cup play-off as United Arab Emirates try to overcome a 1-0 deficit against Iran.
The Irish manager expects Iran to win this afternoon's second leg to set up a two-legged clash with the Republic in November.
McCarthy is still waiting on captain Roy Keane to see if his troublesome knee injury will prevent him taking part in the play-off for next year's finals. Damien Duff has been ruled out of the play-offs due to a recurring hamstring injury.
