British NATO soldier killed in Macedonia

A British soldier travelling in a military vehicle has been killed after being struck by a piece of concrete in Macedonia.

A British soldier travelling in a military vehicle has been killed after being struck by a piece of concrete in Macedonia.

The soldier was travelling to the capital, Skopje, yesterday evening when a crowd of youths threw an object into his car, said Major Neal Peckham.

The soldier was taken first taken to the United States Army's hospital at Camp Bondsteel in neighbouring Kosovo, but was transported back to Skopje University Hospital, where he died.

A British special investigations squad was helping local police with the inquiry.
