Ireland’s Mark Allen joined Murphy in the World Snooker Championship semi-finals today after a 13-11 victory over Welshman Ryan Day.

Allen had engineered a 9-7 lead in yesterday’s two sessions of play, and brilliantly protected his advantage.

The 23-year-old, who beat Ronnie O’Sullivan in the second round, goes on to face either John Higgins or Mark Selby.

Allen clinched victory with a break of 103, clenching his fist in delight as he crossed the finishing line.
