West African Diamonds (WAD), the Irish-owned, AIM-listed diamond miner has sold its first parcel of diamonds from its 100% owned Bomboko mine in Guinea.
The diamond parcel weighing 433 carats was sold in Antwerp for $50,270 (€35,300). The parcel included a large stone of 16.27 carats which was sold for $1,000 (€704) per carat. The remaining 420 carats sold for $34,000 (€24,000).
Deputy chairman of West African Diamonds James Campbell said: "We are pleased with the progress at the Bomboko Mine. The price per carat from what was a spot sale of a small sample is most encouraging."
