Indian soldiers have shot and killed a 12-year-old boy after opening fire on mourners at the funeral of a leading Kashmir separatist guerrilla today.

25 others were also injured when the troops fired indiscriminately at thousands of civilians.

The incident happened after a military convoy attempted to block the path of the funeral in Goigam, near Srinigar, the summer capital of the disputed Kashmir province.

The mourners had earlier attended a religious ceremony at the home of Mustafa Khan, a battalion commander in the Pakistan-based Hezb-ul Mujahedeen who was killed by Indian soldiers during a gunbattle on Monday.
