Paddy Power today suspended betting on who will replace Pat Kenny as host of 'The Late Late Show' following a string of bets on Gerry Ryan for the role.
The bookie was flooded with bets on the 2FM DJ after rumours circulated that he had landed the job.
A total of 286 bets totalling almost €6,000 were placed on Ryan in the space of six hours. The gamble saw his odds crash from 13/2 to 5/2 before Paddy Power called a temporary halt to the betting.
Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power explained: "We’ve temporarily suspended the betting as we believe an announcement is imminent.
"The largest bet placed on Gerry today was €200 at 6/1 but it’s the sheer volume of bets in the last few hours that indicate he could have pipped Miriam to the post."
'Prime Time' presenter Miriam O’Callaghan had been the 1/4 favourite for the job with Paddy Power before today’s gamble emerged.
