Japan’s central bank will end the country’s 0% interest rate policy next week, paving the way for an interest rate increase of 0.25%, news reports said today.
The move will come after a two-day Bank of Japan policy board meeting that starts on July 13, the Asahi and Mainichi newspapers reported, without saying how they got the information.
The central bank will then raise rates to 0.25%, but neither paper gave a timeline. It will be the first increase in Japan’s main interest rate in nearly six years.
