Sean Tobin took ninth position in the Junior men's race at the European Cross Country Championships today.

Tobin, who was hoping for a medal, raced hard through the fast course, finishing in a time of 13:40.

Aoran Hanlon was next Irishman home in 44th place, followed by Andrew Coscoran in 49th and Ruairi Finnegan 60th, giving Ireland 162 pts and ninth position in a race won by France.

Kevin Mulcaire 90th and Con Doherty 93rd where the non-scoring Irish athletes.

Turkey's Alay Kaya was the race winner.

There is no Irish interest in the women’s Under-23’s race, the next race is the men Under-23 race at 11:19am.
