And so it begins: the first Cork All-Ireland song

The first All-Ireland song of the season is out, and it's Cork … rapping.

And so it begins: the first Cork All-Ireland song

Ah, All-Ireland season. When people up and down the country engage in daft behaviour like painting cows in their county colours and dressing sheep up in GAA jerseys. It's all par for the course - including the songs.

So, Cork's RedFM breakfast show teamed up with local rapper GMC (who's genuinely pretty daycint) to pull together an anthem for Cork's All-Ireland hurling final, 'Do the Jimmy Barry Murphy'.

Listeners contributed some of the lines, which include jems like 'bate the cats, that's the truth / Call the ISPCA - animal abuse! and the Dubs thought they could do it, that's laughable / They could never beat the real capital.

Fightin' words. Have a listen:

Bound to be the first of many, we reckon. There's also Hurling's Coming Home, written by the Corrigan Brothers - of No-one as Irish as Barack O'Bama fame - which jumped the gun a bit on how Limerick are going to win.

Except they lost in the semi, of course, to Clare. Oh well.
