Martin Lel produced a thrilling sprint for the line in the men's race to secure a third London victory in four years in a course record of 2hr 5min 15sec.

Lel broke clear in the last 400m to beat Kenyan rival Sammy Wanjiru, 21, with last year’s runner-up Abderrahim Goumri of Morocco third.

All three broke Khalid Khannouchi’s course record of 2hr 5min 38sec, which was also a world record when the American won the race six years ago.
