Offaly boss Mike McNamara has been linked with the vacant hurling manager's position in his native Clare following Cyril Lyons' resignation.
McNamara coached Clare to All-Ireland success under Ger Loughnane's stewardship in 1995 and 1997 and more recently helped Galway to the All-Ireland final in 2001.
McNamara is on a mission with Offaly but Loughnane said: "I have no doubt that Mike McNamara will be contacted. There are not that many people who you could give the job to - it’s a limited pool.”
