The girlfriend of veteran crooner Des O’Connor is launching a pop career and has been handed her first live show at Britain's Royal Albert Hall this week.
Jodie Brooke Wilson, Des’s partner for 12 years, has been invited to open for former Doobie Brothers star Michael McDonald on Friday.
Not even Des – whose singing was often the butt of jokes from comics Morecambe & Wise – has played at the same venue.
Jodie, 36, said: “I am terrified but thrilled.
“I can’t believe my first ever live solo appearance will be at the Royal Albert Hall and have been thrown into a total panic preparing for my big moment.”
She has already forged a career in music as a successful songwriter, working with talents like Don Black and Cathy Dennis.
Her songs have been recorded by acts such as Hear’Say and Aussie Popstars winner Bardot, as well as appearing on soundtracks for films including the hit Scary Movie.
Aussie-born Jodie’s debut album Halfway To Paradise is released by Decca Records.
