Kerry legend Eugie drives YouTube wild

90-year-old Eugie, believed to be Ireland's oldest cattle drover, has proven a hit with his views on drink, fags and work.

Kerry legend Eugie drives YouTube wild

The Irish Examiner have released a video of Eugene (Eugie) O’Sullivan, a cattle drover from Kerry who was celebrating his 90th birthday on Monday, and it's brilliant.

Donal Hickey of the Examiner found Eugie in top form at the surprise celebration as he asked him his views on some of the burning issues of the day.

The drover seemingly has no grá for the drink or fags, saying: "Waste of time. The fags, I wouldn't look at them things. Robbery, robbery."

Unusually, for a Kerryman, he has no interest in football: "Not a bit, I wouldn't cross the road to play football. Waste of time."

It seems all the 90-year-old has time for is packing wool, baling hay and minding the sheep and cattle.

And he has no sympathy for anyone coming into work with a hangover, as he explains while brandishing his stick: "I'd blacken their arse with this stick."

The man himself has been working at the mart for 11 years now, since he was 79, but he doesn't drive to work since his only driving experience years ago didn't work out so well. “I wasn’t properly qualified [to drive] and went in over a ditch. I was half afraid to get back behind the wheel and I’ve been cycling ever since,” he said.

You can see Donal Hickey's interview with the man himself, but be warned it's NSFW in parts.
