Ilco Naumoski scored an injury-time penalty as FYR Macedonia scraped a home draw with Armenia in their Euro 2012 Group B qualifier.

The visitors had looked to have snatched a late winner when Edgar Mancucharyan beat the offside trap to score in the first minute of injury time.

But the hosts then won a penalty, when Armenian defender Sargis Hovsepyan was ruled to have handled in the area, and Naumoski stroked home the spot-kick.

It was rough on Armenia, who had been unlucky to lose their opener 1-0 against the Republic of Ireland on Friday, and after they had led through Yura Movsisyan’s 41st-minute goal.

They managed only to hold that lead for a minute before Mario Gjurovski equalised and their inability to hold onto an advantage bit hard again at the end.

Armenia gave an early indication of their threat when they pressured the home defence into a sloppy clearance before Movsisyan screwed his chance from 15 yards wide.

Macedonia forward Stevica Ristic saw his 25th-minute shot hit the crossbar at the other end before his goalbound shot was well saved by Roman Berezovsky.

Armenia scored the opening goal five minutes before the interval when a poor clearance from Goran Popov allowed the visitors to break before Movsisyan slid home his left-foot shot.

Just a minute later Macedonia were level when Gjurovski scored his first international goal with a 20-yard drive into the bottom-right corner.

Macedonia controlled the second half but after wasting chance after chance they looked set to pay when Mancucharyan beat the offside trap to score.

The hosts looked set for an embarrassing defeat but they were gifted their chance to equalise from the spot in the fourth minute of stoppage time after Hovsepyan handled in the area.
