Flamengo plot Ronaldo bid

Brazilian giants Flamengo will make a firm offer for AC Milan striker Ronaldo in two weeks, a spokesman for the club has revealed.

Brazilian giants Flamengo will make a firm offer for AC Milan striker Ronaldo in two weeks, a spokesman for the club has revealed.

The 31-year-old, who scored twice in the Rossonieri’s 5-2 win over Napoli at the weekend, has been heavily linked with a return to his homeland.

Flamengo’s marketing vice-president Ricardo Hinrichsen told Brasil radio network: “The Flamengo board is going to present their new proposal in 15 days with all our strength.

“Ronaldo is closer becoming a Flamengo player than a few days ago.

“It is much more likely we will find a sponsor with Ronaldo in good shape on the field. If he scores again he will make our job easier.”

Three-time World Player of the Year Ronaldo has stated his desire to join the Brazilian club but is under contract at Milan until next July.

Flamengo vice president Kleber Leite said last week: “Our idea is to agree a pre-contract with Ronaldo in the next weeks as the Brazilian sport legislation allows us to arrange these kinds of deals up to six months before the contract comes into force.”
