The United Nations is preparing ground work for an international peace keeping force in Afghanistan.

British Prime Minister, Tony Blair said that it is important to get unity from a unified coalition to achieve this aim.

He added that it will need a mandate from the UN and the agreement of the local people in Afghanistan to get the details "bolted down".

Meanwhile US military officials have started to set up a prisoner of war camp at Kandahar airport to detain expected captured al-Qaida fighters.
