And that was enough to keep them above Borussia Dortmund in Group C, despite the Germans posting a superb 1-0 victory at group winners AC Milan.

Jan Koller netted the winner for Dortmund 10 minutes from time in the San Siro.

News of that strike gave Real an anxious final few minutes in the Russian capital.

And they almost made a sensational exit when Lokomotiv Moscow missed a great chance to equalise in the dying seconds.
