Space shuttle Atlantis is headed to California to land after NASA decided to bad weather made a touchdown too risky in Florida.

Space shuttle Atlantis is headed to California to land after NASA decided to bad weather made a touchdown too risky in Florida.

Mission Control passed up today’s first landing opportunity at Kennedy Space Centre because of storm clouds offshore.

The seven astronauts took an extra swing around the world as flight controllers kept watch on the weather. Mission Control waited as long as possible before making the call for California.

The shuttle is trying to return to Earth after a 13-day mission repairing and upgrading the Hubble Space Telescope.
