Nicky Richards is hopeful Money Trix will give a good account of himself when he lines up in the totesport.com Premier Berrymoss Chase at Kelso on Saturday.
The nine-year-old has always been held in high regard by connections but has been plagued by injury problems during his relatively short career.
The son of Old Vic suffered a crashing fall on his reappearance at Newbury in December before being beaten into second on his next start at Ayr, and Richards admits his charge has suffered from a lack of confidence.
“All being well Money Trix heads up to Kelso on Saturday and he seems in grand form,” said Richards.
“Everybody knows he had an awful fall at Newbury and his run at Ayr was all about trying to get his confidence flowing again.
“He ran a nice enough race and confidence-wise I think he will come on for it again. I’m trying to just keep him in smallest fields if I can and the race at the weekend should be ideal.
“I suppose on the ratings we haven’t got much chance but I want to get his confidence back. We don’t have any plans for him this season but hopefully we will get him back in early next season and have a good run with him.
“We were just glad to get him home after Newbury so we will just build on things for a little while.”
