Elan and financials help ISEQ up

The ISEQ rose 55.5 points to 7574.24 this morning as the main players posted gains.

The ISEQ rose 55.5 points to 7574.24 this morning as the main players posted gains.

Elan was up 45c (3.8%) at €12.35 at 10.30am following news that it has agreed to sell the rights to its Prialt drug for the treatment of chronic pain in Europe to Eisai, while retaining the product rights in the United States.

Insurer FBD rose 40c (1.1%) to €36.70.

Bank of Ireland was up 14c (1%) at €14.06 and was the morning’s busiest share.

Allied Irish Bank was up 15c at €18.35, while Irish Life and Permanent also rose 15c, to €17.30.

Anglo Irish Bank gained 9c to €12.94.

Greencore was up 3c at €3.43, ahead of today’s AGM.

ISEQ Exchange Traded Fund rose 1c to €15.06.

CRH and Eircom were both unchanged, despite heavy trading, at €26.50 and €2.09 respectively.
