Ireland's Eoin Rheinisch will be allowed hold onto his place in tomorrow's kayaking semi-finals at the Olympic Games.

Ireland's Eoin Rheinisch will be allowed hold onto his place in tomorrow's kayaking semi-finals at the Olympic Games.

Rheinisch had picked up the 15th and last qualifying place for the semi-finals, but the American's lodged an appeal.

The appeal was subsequently rejected and the Irishman is now through to the semi-finals.

Elsewhere, Melanie Noctor came last in her heat for the women's 200-metre freestyle swimming event after her goggles filled with water.
