Bright future for Crosshaven

Tommy Barker reports on the new phase of Drakes Point in the flourishing Cork Harbour town.

Since O’Flynn Construction launched Brightwater in Crosshaven, in 2003, the harbour town’s fortunes have been on an up and up, despite the economic fluctuations in between.

A lot of the inflowing prosperity has come from the rise in population, thanks to many hundreds of new homes and residents, who have helped to grow the community to support investment in schools, sports, heritage amenities, shops, bars and a new playground, for its new generation.

Set to continue the trend, and with a particular appeal to first-time buyers, will be next Saturday’s launch of a new phase at Drakes Point, next to Brightwater, where 60% of the latest scheme is a mix of two and three-bed townhouses, from an entry point price level of €235,000.

Up to 20 new-builds get launched, spanning three house types with 860sq ft two-bed mid-terraced townhouses from €230,000, larger 983sq ft three-bed versions are priced from €280,000, and 1,343sq ft four-beds will be on offer for €325,000, says Paul Hannon, new homes director at Sherry FitzGerald.

A previous launch of the 159 unit/five house type Drakes Point, in spring 2017, has since seen 35 sales, with first residents now in occupation, and construction in underway of this new phase, with completion by early 2019.

Three showhouses are open Saturday, April 14 (see www.drakespoint.ie) and most interest has so far come from “first time buyers availing of the help to buy rebate and some lateral traders”, and an A3 BER is a further incentive to buy new stock, says Mr Hannon.
