Mike Tyson has been forced to cancel his planned warm-up bout with Ray Mercer ahead of his showdown with world heavyweight champions Lennox Lewis in April.
Tyson cancelled the fight, which was planned for January 19, after Lewis issued a lawsuit to stop the bout going ahead.
Lewis had argued that if Tyson was injured in the Mercer fight, it could jeopardise the later bout, which is worth millions of pounds to both men.
Tyson originally protested against Lewis’ interference, but last night he agreed to cancel his warm-up with Mercer, saying: “I’m sure Ray understands why I need to take Lennox out now.”
