Some banks to require larger deposits for rural homes
There are concerns that a two-speed housing market could emerge, putting further pressure on people living in rural Ireland.
It has emerged that a number of mortgage providers are to curtail their loans for homes in rural areas as it is believed prices will recover faster in urban areas.
Both KBC Bank and ICS Building Society are saying they will require much larger deposits for houses in rural areas from now on.
